Aww... Camden part 1

This week we had the fabulous opportunity to help out at the Phillie zoo:) This polar bear was so beautiful:)
Last week we helped out at the Phillie food bank, i got this sticker and am totally in love with it! I have never seen such a big food bank warehouse in my life!
This week i also had the privilege of working with the new jersey tree foundation. This week we helped prune trees and sadly had to cut down the ones that had died! It was fun to go out into these communities and hear the stories for the neighborhood on how the trees have brought them closer and helped bring a since of neighborhood to them. It felt wonderful to see what a tree can do for a street. Not to mention that everyone on the street looks out for each others tree's. It is amazing to have your preconceived notions of a city tossed in your face.
The best part about this week was that I got to be like my Grandpa Bob. It was like I was with family even tho they are thousands of miles away. My Grandpa's hobby is trains, and this week i was the train expert, even tho I admit that I am truly not. I took every thing I had ever learned from my grandpa and put it in use. I also got to teach those around me how to build these trains and fix them so they can work. I fixed up Thomas and got him up and running on a new track out in the train garden of the Camden's children's garden.

Back to the point, to a dislocated shoulder, and on to Camden

The last two weeks have been crazy! We ended our lake charles work with habitat for humanity two weeks ago and started our drive back to the point. We set out another road side fire on our way. This time we saved a dog and a house! We then continued our travels and got to the point on the 5th, Just in time for a corps wide AA meeting. Apparently to many underagers got caught drinking. It was nice to see all of my house mates. I missed them so much. On the 7th we went to Baltimore where we picked up our miss andrea and our team was finally whole:)! After our team builders and finding how andrea brook her wrist it was time for PT, AKA work out time! We were super excited because is was game day! The one time for fun pt! 20 minutes into ultimate freesbee and i dislocate my shoulder. A 911 call, SLOWEST EMT/PARAMEDICS ever, a 10 minute ER wait vist, and a dr relocating the shoulder with no drugs latter i was in a sling and on drugs. The rest of transition week was in bed icing my shoulder drugged up. On the plus side i caught up on sleep and became Master Chair of Community Council :), like president of student gov.! Andrea and i Became one person for the last two weeks seeing as she had a right arm and i had a left arm!

When two become one!

This round we are working at the Camdens Childrens Garden. We work at the garden and also help start new and maintain active gardens in the community. Camden is a food dessert. over 10,00o people and only one grocery store! Our sponsors are really nice and send us home with fresh produce every day:)! Above is andrea using the maple leafs and shades while relaxing at a bed we just mulched!

The Garden has a butterfly house! We love the Butterfly house! It is very relaxing!
